| VIRGIN STEELE sign to Dockyard 1!!! (25th April 2008) |
We are honoured to announce the signing of legendary American Heavy Metal band VIRGIN STEELE! After the collaboration on the re-releases of "Age Of Consent" and "Noble Savage" which made those legendary albums available again, VIRGIN STEELE now signed a new recording contract! “This took quite awhile to conclude, as it was a difficult decision to make in regards to who to sign with, as we were offered several very good agreements from various labels, but in the end we decided to go with DOCKYARD1.
We have a very long history with several members of the team there and have always enjoyed working with them. We have achieved great results and have built lasting friendships with them”, said David DeFeis, the Group’s vocalist.
While there is yet no specific release date, the projected target area for the album is for sometime in January of 2009. DeFeis claims, “If all goes well we should be able to issue a new album sometime between January and March…” Meanwhile in addition to working on a new album, the Group will continue to re-issue various albums in the catalogue, once again with bonus tracks. We will keep you up to date with more details as we receive them. |

| Band of the Month (27th January 2008) |
As one of the absolute pioneers of Heavy Metal New York based Virgin Steele were spreading the gospel of US-Metal since their foundation in 1981. Besides the brilliant guitar works the music is dominated by the impressive and variable voice of singer and main songwriter David DeFeis. His use of epical and classical influences is one of the distinctive trademarks of the sound and style of Virgin Steele. During their outstanding career the band released some highlights and classics, every Metalhead simply has to know to call himself "metal". With Nobel Savage and Age Of Consent two of them are now remastered and reworked - with newly designed booklets, previously unreleased bonus tracks and personal liner notes by David DeFeis himself!
Noble Savage was officially released in 1986. Rock Hard Germany was marvelled by the unique mixture of melodies, classical arrangements like in a Wagner opera and the unique vocals of DeFeis. It scored 9,5 of 10 points and was praised as "Heavy Metal in it's highest perfection."
Age Of Consent hit the market like a bomb and was the logical successor to "Noble Savage" where David DeFeis and his sidekicks were following the path they themselves laid. The biggest hits on this album were 'On The Wings Of The Night' and 'The Burning Of Rome' which can be labelled as "typical" Virgin Steele songs, and the ballad 'Cry Forever'. Originally released in 1988 the album was praised worldwide and scored Virgin Steele tours together with Manowar and Black Sabbath.
Both are scheduled for release on Febuary 4th, 2008.
And for all of you, for whom that´s not enough we can promise that there will be more VIRGIN STEELE very soon! |

| RE-ISSUES (22nd January 2008) |
The re-issues of NOBLE SAVAGE and AGE OF CONSENT are due to be released the first week in February. Both albums will contain new booklets and photos, and have been Re-Mastered, with additional Bonus Tracks added. On the AGE OF CONSENT CD, the Group has added a previously unreleased track called "The Curse", and a previously unreleased version of their cover of Judas Priest's "Screaming For Vengeance". When asked about these tracks by this writer, VS vocalist David DeFeis had this to say, "The Curse is something from quite awhile back that we never did anything with. It has a very out of control quality, and is meant to sound deranged and manic. The "Screaming" track was recorded as if Led Zeppelin had walked into a rowdy, Bluesy Bar and just stepped up onstage for an impromptu jam. It is also out of control, wild and frenzied, and is differnet from the Priest version. We have changed it 'round a bit.
The Bonus Tracks on the NOBLE SAVAGE CD, are the (Roman Sword Re-mix) of the song "FightTooth & Nail", and an alternate version of the title track. An Internet Ep for each album containing more unreleased tarcks, is also scheduled to follow these releases over the next weeks after the CD's hit the street."
In other recording News, the Group is currently deeply involved in completeing what will become the next full length VIRGIN STEELE album of all new music.
Cheers,

| "HOT studio work" (11th December 2007) |
| Nothing is ever totally smooth with the goings on in the World of Metal, and this is quite often the case in the chaotic World of "Barbaric-Romantic" Rockers VIRGIN STEELE. While recording a particularly demonic track last Sunday evening, the power transformer outside the Group's studio blew up in the middle of a take! A bright orange flash, and a thunderous boom, signaled the demise of the transformer, and plunged the studio in utter blackness, as all power went out and the Group resorted to taking a well deserved wine break, under the glow of candlelight, a roaring fireplace, and the conflagration of the remains of the transformer and telephone pole. After a few hours everything was replaced, power was restored and the Group was able to forge forward once again. |
