More Tour Dates (04.07.06)

Have a look in our tour dates section! The list of gigs for SHELTER in Europe grows and grows and grows...

"Eternal" was released end of May, 10 new songs and a remake of 'Quest for Certainty', the title track of the 1991 album. The songs on "Eternal" tie in directly where "Mantra" ended - charismatic, energetic and charming with heartfelt lyrics and message.

SHELTER Play WITH FULL FORCE & DOUR Festival (11.04.06)

Popcore inventors SHELTER, the band around hardcore legend Ray Cappo, are confirmed for Germany's XIII. With Full Force Festival, which will take place near Leipzig from June 30th to July 2nd.

SHELTER will release "Eternal", their first album after a 5 year hiatus on Dockyard 1 on May 15th. Ray says about it: "Living with very similar values but speaking to a completely parallel community, I want to indulge my old fans with a lost CD, with songs I had written but never recorded – until now."

"Eternal" consists of 10 of those new songs and a remake of 'In Defense Of Reality', the opening track of the 1991 album "Quest for Certainty".

See the tourdates and check back on our website for updates as there are more gigs to come.

DOCKYARD 1 Welcomes SHELTER (03.02.06)

Shelter are back! The inventors of Popcore just put the song "Eternal" on their Myspace-Profile, the first song since 2001 when Ray Cappo put his most successful band on hold. The title track of the upcoming album is like the missing link between "Mantra" (out 1995 on Roadrunner) which sounded like the invention of popcore where Ray & Porcell were adding the smile of pop to the energy of hardcore. The album is tentatively titled "Eternal" and will be out on Dockyard 1 on April 24th.

The band around NYHC veteran Ray Cappo (ex-YOUTH OF TODAY) has released a handful of classic albums on labels like Revelation Records, Equal Vision, Victory and Century Media. Their absolute hit-album was 'Mantra', released through Roadrunner Records in the 90's.

'Eternal' is back in the grand style of 'Mantra' days, and will NOT dissappoint. 'Eternal' has 10 great brand new songs and as a bonus the remake of the classic "In Defense of Reality" (released on "Quest for Certainty" in 1995).

The seed that blossomed into SHELTER was planted years ago in the rich fields of the New York hardcore/punk scene of the mid-80's. It was then that SHELTER vocalist Ray Cappo, and guitarist Porcell formed the legendary 80's hardcore band Youth Of Today. After the disbanding of Youth Of Today in 1988 Cappo left on a one-way ticket to India to study eastern philosophy, Sanskrit, natural medicine, and Yoga. The philosophies that Cappo learned became the backbone of SHELTER which he formed with Porcell upon his return to the U.S. Krishnacore was thus invented and brought to the masses.

As vocalist Ray Cappo puts it "I think music is like my "dharma" or calling. Everybody has something they feel natural at doing ... so music did and will always magnetically drag me back even though sometimes I move away from it." Shelter sets themselves apart from other rock bands with their unique blend of spiritual and melodic, yet hard-edged music.

The bands message is one of hope and inspiration. Shelter champion vegetarianism, natural foods, and a positive drug-free lifestyle.
