Mannhai enthusiastically returns this year with a new sound,
a new lineup, and a new album. 'Hellroad Caravan' marks Mannhai's
fourth full-length album and the band's first release with vocalist
Pasi Koskinen, the former Amorphis frontman. Pasi joined the
group in the middle of Mannhai's European tour in April 2005,
as the band had to let go of their Norwegian vocalist at the
time. Upon completion of the tour, however, they noticed that
things were working better than ever; therefore it wasn't a
tough decision to keep the new lineup.
After months of hard work on the new material, Mannhai locked
themselves into Jive Studio in their hometown Helsinki/Finland
to achieve a new and heavier Mannhai sound. Two months later
the band emerged from the studio with their most significant
album ever. Produced by Jukka Varmo and Mannhai, 'Hellroad
Caravan' is full of heavy songs with a wild groove, and punctuated
by thunderous and explosive rock 'n' roll outbursts born at the
crossroads where Black Sabbath meets Alice in Chains, where
Mother Love Bone got KISSed by desert-dry riffs in best
Kyuss-style - seems like Pasi lead MANNHAI back to their
roots.
But what makes the band so unique is their ability to play
together as a team, forming a kind of cohesiveness that other
bands often struggle to find.
We got a taste of what is to come when "Spaceball", the first
single from 'Hellroad Caravan', entered already the Finnish
single charts at 1 and stayed in the Top 10 for 3 weeks.
Mannhai anxiously awaits their upcoming tour, which will begin
in Finland after the release of 'Hellroad Caravan'. Following the
Finnish tour dates, the band heads out to the rest of Europe
in summer. The show promises to be powerful and sweaty with
pure rock energy, so fasten your seatbelts and hold on tight as
the Mannhai caravan comes rolling in your direction!
