Listening to Assailant´s music one recognises this young Swedish six-piece is one of those bands who are hard to categorise. They don’t fit into any given mould, twisting the sound of Metal in their own unique way. Diverse trademarks collide into one when the sound structures of bands like Nevermore or Dream Theater meet with the talent of In Flames to hide melodies within the brutal, and the vocal chords are almost as twisted as Pantera or Children Of Bodom.

The members of Assailant have two things in common: they love music and they come from the small city of Umeå in the north of Sweden. A city known for the tradition of quality Metal bands such as Meshuggah, Nocturnal Rites, Naglfar and labelmates Persuader. The band was formed in 2004 when Oskar Norberg (youngest brother in the Norberg family which bore Nocturnal Rites axeman Nils Norberg and Persuader/Savage Circus guitar player Emil Norberg) and Joakim Jonsson found themselves the only remaining members of their former band.

They searched and found talented singer Peder Sundquist in the same situation. The co-operation proved successful when writing new material together and things looked quite good for the trio. Wanting to play live, the line-up had to be completed and through mutual and old friends they found the people they needed. Patrik Larsson filled the drumseat, Marcus Sundbom the guitarspot and Peder Sandström entered the band as their new keyboardist.

The family ties brought the deal: Persuader guitarist and older brother Emil introduced Assailant to his label who instantly were curious to find out more about the band. And finally the deal was inked with with Dockyard 1 in 2005 and their debut ”Nemesis Within” hit the streets beginning of 2006 and marked the beginning of a very talented, inspiring and creative career for Assailant.

Now Assailant deliver their new masterpiece "Wicked Dream" where again clean vocals team up with occasional screams, and heavy guitar riffing with keyboard tunes, showing that Assailant have created their very own solid, hard hitting yet melodic sound. Let them convince you with their huge wall of sound with melodic paintings, a threatening atmosphere and an aggressive edge!
